Song
There was a boy with a golden skin,
with sky blue eyes and hair that shone.
A heart beat in his chest
and his red blood flowed.
His brain thought thoughts
that sparkled and gleamed.
The sun was his lover,
the wind his comb.
All his days were long.
This boy met another
with a similar look.
They gathered their assets,
their love and a book.
And, together, the two
learned shame.
His days flowed by in the river of Time,
clear 'till the weather started to change.
Days in the river grew muddy and mean.
The wind whipped about, surly and cold.
The sun hid behind ominous clouds as
the boy paled, grew pallid, and waned.
...Now ever alone, grown suddenly old,
A once tender boy, with once golden skin,
No longer thought thoughts that shone.
