Sometimes

Agendas in modern schedules, drive us to our personal goals, and we rarely look to the wayside, where lies unfortunate souls, whose dreams are lying in tatters, dispirited with broken wings. At these times showing respect, can lead to such wonderful things. But sometimes we can’t see ahead, because we’re secure in our feeling. Sometimes security crumbles, and no one is there for the healing. And so on the pathway to glory, where rainbows guarantee gold, think as you pocket your riches, about a friend who is left in the cold. Remember when in your struggle, where the upward climb grew its thorns, and remember who pulled you through, with their wisdom in your early dawns. Sometimes the comfort zone sprawl, can lead to a lapse of the past, that sometimes becomes the lesson, required for a courteous cast. For the scale of life has a balance, that rises and falls with our greed. Sometimes we may not be the needy, and sometimes it’s us who may need. But sometimes we can’t see ahead, because we’re secure in our feeling. Sometimes security crumbles, and no one is there for the healing.

unfortunate souls, whose dreams are lying in tatters...wonderful wordplay. I often see folks begging at intersections in my area. Do your words apply to them?A woman in a laundramat once asked me for 2 dollars. I stupidly asked what for."Do you really want to know?" I gave her 2 dollars (I was on vacation in Hawaii in 1986).

Hello Jim ... sometimes folk who have had the lot can lose it all when taking risks. Begging is turning into a big industry, and city streets can be full of homeless people - thanks for commenting Jim - Lindsay

Hello BJ ... this poem is a diversion from my normal humorous verses, and you are right. It is a tale about how we can treat others better so if our turn crops up, somebody may be there for us - thank you BJ - Lindsay

Lindsay, every line rings with truth. Life has a way of turning the tables. Those we look down on today may be looking down on us tomorrow. Thus, it's not just the right thing to show love to every mortal, it's also the practical thing. Hugs & Love, Paul

It takes time to learn that we are all in this life together and we fail our missions if we neglect those in need. As you say, sometimes we are in need. I love this poem's call for unity and compassion, Lindsay. It's really quite remarkable. A fave for me. Hugs, Carolyn

Hello Carolyn ... humanity should never stop searching for a way to help those in proper need instead of turning their heads away - Lindsay

What you say rings so true in my ears, in South Africa we are still able to employ domestic staff, but we always pay her higher than the legal and required amount. And should I buy something new, a jersey, or a pair of shoes for instance, i will always give her the same in kind from what I have already. I feel it is only fair, however we do draw the line, a new car for example would be a no no! Maybe if I win the lottery one day. I really enjoyed this poem. Hugs and blessings Jennifer.

Excellent insight Lindsay. So often people are wont to look down their nose at someone sitting in the gutter in rags. When all they need is maybe someone to give the a hand up. As you say, sometimes we may be the needy one. It sure doesn't hurt to give someone a helping hand sometimes. You may save a life. Love this. A fave. God Bless, JB

I really like this, Lindsay. It's an eloquent, touching appeal to be charitable. But it's more. It reminds us that one day we may find ourselves in need. We are all vulneable. We don' know what's ahead. Mortality has a way of springing nasty surprises. I confess that your words made me more supportive of those in need. Thank you. Hugs, Paul
