Someday

I watch you, From the corner of my eye, I see you; I catch you staring at me, You look away when I bring up my eyes; I know you are watching… Even when I can’t see you I feel you; Your eyes follow me as I casually scrawl across my paper, As I walk across the room, You watch me while I work; My heart pounds faster when you are near; We are both too afraid to move any further, Scared of what might happen if we act on impulse; We joke but it’s not the same, Our conversations have become strained, awkward; We can barely make eye contact, we both feel it; Thrilled, terrified, intrigued; Alarmed at what would happen if we let our inhibitions go; We are both on the brink, ready to fall, but not quite; Someday we might break the stalemate, let ourselves feel; Finally find the ecstasy we’ve been denying; Someday… That is what we will always say…Someday.
