Sleep In the Light
In solitude. In bed i lie
and watch the stars as they blink,
marveling at my city.
And the house across the street
which i know they must hear me.
And go to sleep in their bed
while the holy sound of the sirens weep
and drown out the day.
Within the skin that covers my flesh
i leap away into sweet freedom.
All of our actions make us lost.
Perhaps the best is to close the eyes
and blink, and every night a pain-staking
soul stares at our souls.
In our blue watery prison.
Fingers become numb in hot showers at dawn
as within our blinding soltude in bed.
And then, to awaken and still it's dark.
