Simple Celebrations

With cheerful hearts we join in celebrations in our simple, quiet upstate town and Main Streets' decorations look so pretty laced with the snowflakes that are falling down We'll take a ride to look at all the houses that delight us with their bright displays and when we go downtown to do some shopping we hum to carols that the speakers play On Christmas Eve we gather with our neighbors with our families and beloved friends and happily as we are joined together our hearts fill with the joy this season sends As we are sharing goodies and our laughter Christmas songs play on the radio* These simple celebrations are a treasure that I have been so blessed to come to know *One tradition that I love in the small upstate New York town I live in is that our local radio station plays Christmas music from Christmas Eve through Christmas Day and always seems to be a part of our gatherings. They play music on Main Street throughout the year but the Christmas tunes are always the loveliest! Inspired by Carolyn Devonshires' Christmas in Your Town contest

Delightful, Robin. I think radio stations nationwide have the Christmas music on during the holidays. There is one in Panama City, Florida, that starts the music the day after Halloween and continues it until January 2. Overkill, there. I love the picture you paint of your town in upstate New York! Love, Carolyn

You've painted a lovely picture of a holiday in small town America. It makes one realize that all towns are so much the same....our hearts and the holiday traditions aren't much different, no matter what country or state you live . Great entry to the contest, Robin! Best luck with this wonderful poem.! ~Love, Carrie
