Silence No need to hide away To shut the door In darkness, lay I welcome you As warm embrace The smile, as from a friendly face Not loneliness, just inbetween The voice of comfort Not heard, not seen I know you sit with me And stay, when 'er I need A friend to pray Less than a whisper Though, yet it seems You comfort, encourage, caress my dreams You're full, yet vacant Absent, yet near You calm with love my anxious fear With soundless music A serenade of joy You overwhelm, yet strangely coy And as I settle in this peace You calm the waves Smooth out each crease From crumpled cloak I often wear Now princely purple Shoulders bear I hear you Not through sound so crude But posture, presence, attitude Of thankful heart as minutes race Encouraged now I know my place Jinjagoliath 17th January 2023
