Shutting the Door

How could you say goodbye, To my open heart at your door? Refusing to let me in, To love you anymore. Cruelty to my heart, Weakens the walls, That give my heart strength, To keep love open to explore. This heart that cares, Loves, and obeys, Your every emotion, That sparks my life. Goodbye is so final, Slams the door shut, Tells my heart, It's not wanted anymore. Through my eyes, You can clearly see, The sadness in tears, Of dreams and wishes, Crushed beyond belief. 2016 Lee Christine Brownlee
