Setting Fire To Hell

Which of us set Hell ablaze? Was it Prometheus for fear we would not see our ways? Was it the child of us crying alone at night Hiding from monsters who despise the light? Was it the one who wants his face to be seen, or Was it the one who wants to forget the way the cold hurts on February mornings Who can no longer be brave to face just one more day of hands numb to feeling? Was it the one who wants to see all or the one who wants to forget all? Was it the one who fears the dark of night or the one who fears the single spark of light that jolts us awake from our nightmare, making us aware of the chaos and terror we would just as well have slept away And gone about our day Not remembering the hands we cannot feel but can only fold and pray Unaware of the pain within? I ask not to assign blame; I just ask for an answer, praytell: By what cruel design is forgetting the greatest sin And remembering the greatest hell?

Thank you, Niall! Sisters can be pretty bad, too. I never terrorized my sisters with stories about monsters or boogey men, but my aunts sure made their younger brother terrified of masks!

Great work that will always make me remember the greatest hell and forgetting the greatest sin through imagination; I will live in the philosophic poem of yours.

Thank you so much, Linda; I'm always grateful for the encouragement often lacking in this field! I read some of yours, too, and I thought 'Sleepless Night' was exceptionally sad but good. Seeing your mother die with Alzheimer's must have been quite the catalyst for many sleepless nights. Hopefully the outlet you have in writing is giving you some rest. Thank you for the encouragement!
