September Storm

The first of September harvest in full swing then came a nasty storm dark and menacing it whirled bending and shaking trees thunder rolled lightning strikes sheet lightning lit up the sky it grew darker and yellowish wind howled forcibly then came the hail banging like a drum striking everything after the fierce storm the streets were white like it was new fallen snow on the first of September.

Oh dear, sounds like a rough September! Let's hope there will be milder days before the real tyranny of winter sets in. Blessings, Paulette

Funny that you should write of hail in September in this wonderful poem. In Johannesburg we might get snow once every 5 years, but about 20 years back we had the heaviest snowstorm recorded ever. It was also September. Hugs and blessings, Jennifer.

I tell you Judy that hail came down hard and I sent up a prayer for not to much damage. It did put a few dents in the car and took out my garden and flower but our son got it much worse. Hope all is well your way Judy. love phyl

Thanks Darlene for the comment and yes the hail was scary but also sad for the destruction it causes. White rocks floating on a stream of water. love phyl

Yes, indeed. I can remember such occasions when I was a kid growing up in the hills of West Virginia. Then, just as suddenly, it would melt and sometimes quickly warm up. Early fall brought strange changes in the weather. Good writing, Phyllis.

Yes storms can do a lot of damage in a short time. The hail melts quickly but leaves a lot of destruction. It was a lot of loud banging and now clean up. love phyl
