A beautiful tribute to the best friend man has ever had and will ever know. I believe you cannot know love until you have truly loved a dog. Awesome.

Thanks so much for your visit and kind words Kilo :) I have many different animal companions who have gone on...It's always hard to say goodbye, but it wouldn't be life to me without them. C. H.

That is really beautiful, Chris. : ) I had a husky mix when I was a boy - supposedly - he really looked like a small Bernese Mountain Dog, never knew for sure.

Finally I found another poem which I had previously missed:) A lovely and touching tribute to a pet dog, accompanied by an equally lovely photo:) I reckon you're a 70s girl, which according to my maths means that you are still pretty young! ~ Regards // paul

Such a nice tribute through poetry Chris. We raised a mixed Shepherd from a 6 week old pup, and he lived to be 15 in human years. It was very hard to accept that he was moving on to a new realm, so I understand the attachment. I give this one a "7"

Thanks so much for reading... I was surrogate mom to a rejected foal at a horse farm and she didn't even make it to 1 yr...very sad, but still a wonderful connection. Sorry to hear about your Shepherd mix.
