Screams

A.W. Nutter “Scream little one, let him hear your screams” “Filling his desires as he haunts your dreams” Demon of pain plaguing the soul As fear takes away your breath Devouring your innocence whole Making you pray for a quick death Hands of the wicked hold you tight Destroying your thoughts of escape Satanic perversions, a childhood blight Securing your future to a lifetime of hate “Scream little one, let him hear your screams” “Filling his desires as he haunts your dreams” Swallowing emotions, destroying pleasure The youthful spirit lays bloody and broken No longer seen as a captivating treasure Sinful transgressions remaining unspoken The physical demon returns to his realm Leaving devastation, with his passing Every night you become overwhelmed As your sanity, slowly begins decaying “Demons from the past living inside” “From life’s experiences you can never hide”

Very well written piece - it is sad that dark thoughts pervade our dreams - I wonder are they cummulative ancestral fears expressed in fearful shadows in the night - Liz

This sure is a gripping write, Anthony-- another dark write but one that is very insightful as well-- our past does seem to be always in the shadows, just lurking there... nikko :)

What a great depth is hidden in this lovely sad poem. Its lines are really very striking and thought provoking, 'Swallowing emotions, destroying pleasure, The youthful spirit lays bloody and broken'. ... And thanks for your comments on my Poem Patradoot 34. Love and best wishes...Ravindra...Anthony Nutter.

I tried my bottle of prozac, but it was empty. I returned to read the rest and found catharsis. Vivid!

it's sad when silence turns to screams and even sadder when those screams turn into sarcasm

Very good dark poetry Anthony. I never really had this type dream when a child. I had nightmares but could never define what they were when awake. Charles

wow! Anthony, this one got a hold on my reality. Dreams being invaded as a child, the only demon in my dream was he that carries that tail around him like a noose. Scary how he haunted my dreams, and i would wake up in screams! Enjoyed your poem,..p.d.
