Scars of a Battered Woman
Scars
By Sandi Hoot
When Life’s moments have such demand
When you are afraid and so struggling to stand
When the walls are cold and the lines of mine enemies are long
I will arise from my brokenness to sing the Lord's song
When the world makes you feel that you are all alone
When pain is so deep that you feel it in your bones
When your happiness is nothing but a gloomy frown
I’ll stand here scarred, knowing the Lord has my crown
Everyone turned on me spreading their lies,
Someone who once loved me, he wished me to die
The blow of his hands like a rock to my face
scratching his eyes so that I could get away
His words chatting things so horrid and un graced
Love gushed out my heart left so bitter so dry
a battered woman I was just ready to die
His loved pronounced as a curse, Made me feel I wasn’t much worth
And though I’ve walked through the pit of hell
I will rise above my enemies like Clear water from a well
When my soul is broken and my life put to shame
I will call out to Jesus For there’s power in his name
