Scarred Heart

I hate to say it But it's a solid fact Every story begins the same A character The protagonist The supposed hero Is born innocent and pure But as they grow up Like skin They're innocence gets peeled back Little by little Lately, I've been at it again Holding an interview with life consistently What's the purpose of it How are you supposed to live If there's so many obstacles Various twists and turns Dating so many disturbances I've searched for my own answers And came up short Only to be reminded I've changed Somewhere deep down inside I'm only lost because a part of me has died Dreams of such innocence Days of old Have vanished like lingering spirits who've found peace Has my story really changed drastically So drastically Am I still the character Born with a scarred heart Or have I changed into a rogue And separated from the pages Someone else has been begging me to read
