Ruled By a Clock

When I was born, who would have thought I’d grow up to be ruled by a clock. Clocks mock dreams while hours gawk - clicking off our minutes, letting seconds go - - Did I turn the coffee and iron off, remember drops for my cough ... oh, I don’t know, darn traffic is slow. Kindly push your pedal and go – go, come on now! We need to roll. If I am late, I’ll get penalized so. Got to chew fast and ignore my dog's wag. If I dawdle, someone will get mad. So much to deal with, rules, rules and more, so much crap I cannot ignore. Are there more points for being on time than for completing work that is prime? I want to shout for upper brass to remove their clock from my a*s. There’s a complete person who I am, yet my wants get the work week cram. Job clocks are feeling-lame, greedy-aimed and make my life a punctual strain ... ... CayCay May 15, 2020

This poem is so clever and so true Cay Cay, we all should read this as it affects us all, the only advantage with the clock and business and I is that I can start at any time, because we work from home and can work till late if I choose, but for everything else the clock is the boss, tiresome sometimes. Love and hugs, Jennifer.

G’day CayCay … how true. We are ruled by the clock in all our waking hours. There is a real frustration in this lyric CayCay - thank you - Lindsay

At first I thought is said Ruined by Clock. Well expressed Cay Cay as only you could do it. A valuable use of my time to stop by. Hugs Rick.

Brilliant poetry CayCay, Yes time and the way we measure it. Reading your wonderful poem, does make me think, what the world would be like without, clocks and time? Just the sun, moon and stars.

I can certainly relate to this poem CayCay. If I was late I would miss my flight and that never happened in 34 years, but many times I almost didn't make it in time. I loved this rage against the clocks. I hope this is a top winner for you my friend. I hope you are doing well with your move Blessings xxoo

CayCay, I loved your write and I can so relate. I envision heaven having a big bin by the pearly gates where we will throw our alarm clocks, wristwatches, and timestamp clocks before we walk into a paradise free of deadlines. Well done, my friend, best wishes to you. Hugs ~ John

Hey - good to see you. It was easy to recall my feelings about work and time from the 35 years I did both. IIronically, my life's routine deliberately borders on the reclusive side of things so it hasn't changed much activity-wise. I did make and wear my first mask today following YouTube instructs. I wasn't in the store long before I realized masks are difficult when one is claustrophobic. I hope you and yours stay playful and healthy thru and thru. DO IT. Hugs ... CayCay

Thank your stars you don't live in Germany where noon means EXACTLY 12 o'clock, not one minute before nor one minute after! Aloha! Rico

I think my blood pressure went up just reding this. I remember when my watch broke, how freeing it was! When I walk the dog I usually leave my phone at home for just this reason, to be clock-less. Enjoyed this tremendously! Hugs, xomo
