Ring of Fire
A Loki monster wolf bit deep across
Your flaring face.
It doused all daylight,
And then the children shrieked.
Their parents moaned and wept
In sudden darkness’s shroud,
The misty dank of poisonous air,
For surely Armageddon was nigh,
Surely, wolf Skoll had devoured your blaze.
They knew again they angered the gods.
They knew what they must do.
They pounded their drums and pots
Until evil Skoll fled in fear.
Yet, even during the darkest hour,
And even when the miracle worked,
No one stopped believing,
No one stopped seeing,
Your crimson, radiant ring of fire!
