I was buried in a tomb for unknown persons. When I was alive I knew nothing of this life. Now that I'm dead I seem to have acquired it all. My heartless mother abandoned me, unwanted, Left me on the cold stairs of the door of Poor Claire's. The rain fell incessantly and I cried hungry. It was a time when the pandemic COVID raged. Sister Grace was immune and she heard my poor plight. She carried me inside, took care of me, knowing I would not survive the night. She prayed the last rites, She baptised me, named me Ruth. By morn I was dead. Someone found a white box and laid me inside it. Wearing a face mask and gloves they drove me quickly To a small cemetery. No one wanted me. No records were kept, just known as “Ruth Unwanted”. Then my spirit moved out of my body and I Was lifted high, up above the wet cypress trees, Above the clouds, above the sun, amongst the stars. I heard angelic symphonies in a bright place. I saw Him smiling with love, coming towards me. No dirge was needed now. I knew I was wanted.

Sad tale tellingly told Vic. While I don't believe babies go to heaven or Limbo I do believe they are in God's memory

Hello Victor, very moving and beautifully written. "I was buried in a tomb for unknown persons" captures the essence of abandonment, loss, and ultimate redemption. The artistic works of Ruth's journey from despair to divine embrace are both heart-wrenching and uplifting. Your words create a wonderful picture of love and hope transcending earthly suffering. It's an incredibly powerful and touching piece. - Blessings, Daniel

What a transformation! From an unwanted motherless child, she got raised to God's precious child. Though she had to pass through bitter ordeals soon after she was abandoned, she reached caring hands and through death reached a place where she joined the throng of angels. A heart stirring poem. All the Best dear Victor.

This is soul hitting! Ruth unwanted! Sad story of a child that was abandoned so ruthlessly youve written on that so very well! You always have a way with coming up with such moving poems! And this is no exception! Brilliant storytelling throughout too! Along with such descriptive imagery! Pleasure reading this poem! Best wishes also for the contest .

There's a truly sad beginning to this story, Victor. However, the ending uplifts, with the fulfilment of Jesus' promise of an everlasting home in the heart of our Maker. Lovely writing.

An emotionally evocative piece of writing, Victor. Truly melancholic, yet an accurate reflection of reality. I appreciate the optimistic shift in the concluding stanza.

A sad story that you often hear about Victor, I often wonder what's going through a mother's mind to abandon their child like that. Best of luck in the contest. Tom

Hey Victor this reminds me of a movie I saw recently.. Your poem offers a deeply moving narrative about a life that begins with neglect and ends with acceptance and love. The compassionate act of Sister Grace provides a glimmer of hope amidst the desolation, while the transcendence to a higher plane brings a sense of peace and belonging. This journey from abandonment to spiritual embrace is both heart-wrenching and uplifting.

Your poignant poem is full of emotions of a child left abandoned. We are often left pondering the plights of the unwanted. Does the hurt ever go? Well at least for this little Soul it ended well. Great entry for the contest dearest Victor. I'm sure it will place really high...Hugs
