Reawaken
Wearing smiling masks, when inside we were dying
There was a thousand unspoken words and secrets in that touch.
I’m crying.
I’ve been here before. The players all changed the scene the same.
This mawkish girl falling into the maw of this wakeful dream
The players have changed the scenes the same
Forced to let go of all I know
And loved.
Dumbstruck with pain, no formal feeling comes
Awestruck with the swiftness which numbness gained
The wrenching heart in chaotic whirls
Like swirling, whirling, concentric whorls
Roiling, churning, toiling, burning up a sea of frothy-foam
Then it stops.
Nothing. Dead. Transfixed on a hum
Humming buzz, buzzing then it fades like a promise
A promise of peace
The mind sets free --it’s blank—but free
And like the corpse thawing from an icy-slumber I slowly awake and move on from loss
