A poem for Maundy Thursday

Listen to poem:
Rainy days. We have them. When the sun don't shine A blank page stares Without a rhyme They rattle On the window pain Each drop a tear Or sad refrain But as I lie In soft repose A secret joy My spirit knows As morning birds Are not perturbed Their tune unhindered Undisturbed Such is the rhythm Of the rain Allowing me Without disdain To write these words Of love again

The rhythm and rhyme of this poem resembles falling rain, Sam. I find that one of the benefits of old age is being able not to go to work on a rainy day and watch the outer world from behind a window pane. Regards // paul

I think, Paul, it is a wonderful season you are in. May the rain always fascinate and sing a unique song to inspire you. Thank you too for your comment on my poem, I hadn't noticed! Perhaps the rain's rhythm guided my cadence? How wonderful. Blessings, Sam :)

Love the rhythm dear Sam as it’s a great poem to recite and your narration, as always, is wonderfully effective. This is such a delightful, serene read so well described that the reader can hear the rainfall and feel the poetic impact it can have to inspire putting pen to paper. Very atmospheric and especially loved the last few lines. Your own unique style of poetry has really emerged as you put your own stamp on your beautiful, meaningful poems.

I love the soft sound of the rain, because it creates a beautiful mood for me. The melody is poetic in many ways. Sam, your thoughts leave me in awe. Which is a good thing, because I feel as though I'm floating. Thank you for that. :) Brandy

I like how your poem is a gentle reminder to embrace life's storms with grace and gratitude, recognizing that within the tears and the gray skies lie the seeds of inspiration and love. It's a testament to the power of creativity to transform even the dreariest of days into moments of beauty and joy..

Thanks S1 for delving into the deeper sentiment and pausing to comment. It would be easy to think the world does not need another rain poem.. yet the desire to express emotion and mood from it's presence is palpable. Blessings :))

Hello Sam, you have beautifully captured the paradox of melancholy and serenity accompanying the pitter-patter of raindrops. Amidst the gloom, there's a secret joy, a tranquil refuge where creativity blossoms. I loved how your verses dance with the rhythm of the rain, embracing its undisturbed melody as inspiration to create words of love once more. Yes, even in the stormiest of times, beauty and renewal are waiting to be discovered. Great Poem! - Blessings, Daniel

Profound poem written on rain, so well delivered and described. I agree rain can give inspiration too to so many, and definitely makes me lazy on rainy days. I love “ a blank page stares without a rhyme” how clever and creative of you to describe, your muse. Such is the rhythm of rain that which youv shown through your words woven seamlessly! The evocative touch and theme of this really stood out for me as well as the quotes used.Always a pleasure reading your work.
