Rain

The rain falls gently from the clouds through the trees to the thirsty ground Adding a glistening sheen to all it caresses with its familiar pitty pat sound Ah, to be a child again and stand in its path and stick out my tongue in delight To run through the puddles in my rubber boots waiting for the sun so bright Faded memories of the many places past and childhood friends fill my mind All vivid reminders of a cherished time as in a dream long left behind Yes, the rain takes me back and instead of raindrops tears now fill my eyes As I stare through the clouded glass of my room at the rain filled skies

For sure, youth has a carefree magic, that is often seemingly impossible to recapture when adults. Beautiful writing! You took me pleasantly back.
