Quiet Masterpiece

A merciless rhythm haunts him in the chill, indigo night thrilling scales move restlessly inside his tormented mind aching to be released. He stares outside the rippled windowpane vacuous trees are scattered shivering lifeless leaves swirl about in listless clumps yet the breath of revival awaits. If only his fingers could move again to feel the luxury of strong fingers dancing over the keyboard releasing compositions from the flaming desire in his soul. The ache of longing overwhelms him weakly, he hums an intricate tune as cerulean frost collects on high arched windows angels listen with rapt attention.

This is such a gorgeous verse Laura that’s captivating right from the opening line,’A merciless rhythm haunts him’ right through to it’s beautiful concluding line,’ angel’s listen with rapt attention’. So poetically well written. You depicted the scene, the aching loss, so well that the reader is transported there at the keyboard with him gently urging him on!A creative soul will always live on. Loved it! Thank you for sharing. Hugs xx

Though our bodies might fail us at times that beautiful spirit lives on ... we can still be creative for a different audience. Lovely poetry, Laura. It was nice to read your poetry again. A poet friend in Texas, Bill

Like Aysha I too imagined symphony music in the background. In the first two stanzas I imagined a fortissimo - almost gothic - sounding piece playing yet in the last two stanzas the music became slower, quieter reflecting loss and loneliness..and then just a single piano note or two playing before silence.. I lose myself in great poetry sometimes and I'm happy to say that lost myself in this. Cheers - Gary
