Powder Keg

Pieces of heat scatter and scorch Over the orange rusted sky Wildfire season has arrived Dense and thick, stern charcoal Eyes capture and deny Relief's cool rain, as tongues of flames Kindles tender clovers red Eating clean the succulent Green laced gentle ground. 7/14/21 This or That Volume 4 contest Sponsor: Edward Ibeh Title: Powder Keg

Great descriptions in your acrostic. Very fitting for this time of year.

The water that could grow food (and/or keep people clean & cool) is instead wasted in vain attempts to extinguish that powder keg, so perhaps we need re-educating about this or that?

Mother nature can be fierce at times, read an interesting article the other day about the fire watchers who live in towers for weeks on end who alert the authorities if smoke is spotted. Hope things cool down over there Michelle , i struggle in the heat. Tom

Thank you, at least they are in the southern part of Oregon, away from me, though I feel for those suffering right now~

Yes a few weeks ago we hit 116 degrees (a record for Portland!) and now so many Western states are having wildfires too-
