Pieces

I woke up in pieces Broken glass Splinters of the love we had Your picture on floor Shattered like before Lipstick on the mirror Perfume the on the sheets A night of perfection Love made to the hilt With no malice, with no guilt I wish you hadn’t cared Inside of me you cried And I screamed in the night The beast we made And held each other tight When the end came You told me I was not to blame But you had to know Would I stay? Or should you go? Commit I could not You cried and then we fought I turned my back And you walked away Now I wish you had stayed

Heartrending piece. I love the beginning, with the vivid picture of the photo shattered on the floor, the lipstick I could almost see, and I could almost smell the perfume. Great sensory details to really add emphasis on the loss of someone very special. Always, Laura
