Persephone's Return
Persephone's Return
Sing now, in celebration
Of the loosening of Winter's cold grasp,
The days grow longer, hinting of the warmth to come,
When the sun will embrace the earth with his heat
And make her laugh with a sound her devoted can hear in their hearts,
And all her body will flush with reborn life.
Breezes gentle as prayers attend her as she rises
Flowers blooming where she passes
The magic sound of clear water being born again
From the spark-dappled ice in the rose light of dawn
Plays its subtle music for her.
Weaving daydreams for us.
The scent of a darkwood pool, below our conciousness,
The taste of sacred stillness
Rises through the dim and silent realms below
Lifting the chilling fogs
From the shoulders of the sleeping world;
All things bestilled begin to stir again,
Patches of blue tearing the grey robe from the skies
And frosts resign into rivulets of silver
All in honor of Her coming.
She arrives again,
Fulfilling Her promise
Coming forth from the halls of Shadow
Where Her lover waits and rues His time away from Her.
Soon the farmer's scythe will sing through the air once more,
And abundance will bring joy to all
As we dance through the fields in Her honor -
She has returned to us, Beloveds all.
Clothed in the glory of her matchless beauty -
Bow thy head, open thy heart in thanks:
She has returned! She has returned!
