9: REFLECTIONS ON A PENCIL
A
I wrote an angry note to my friend.
You did not stop me.
You lead me on.
Was it your fault?
B
Imagine the day
When IT systems crash
Which they will.
What then?
I will still be here for you
Hidden in the dust of a forgotten draw
But I will still work.
C
I press you.
Billions of thoughts flow
Through you.
We are partners.
D
The more I use you
The more you serve me
The less you become
The more I need you.
E
My father was a tree.
My ancestors were forests.
Now you use me
To sketch what you imagine I once was.
F
My back itches.
I can’t reach it.
Ahhhh.
Thank you.
G
Do what I say.
Follow my moves.
You are my vassal.
Don’t break.
H
You are so sharp when you start
Like I am in the morning.
But the day wears you down
Whilst I start yawning.
I
Wield that sword.
Destroy that character.
Comfort that child.
You are so easily lead.
J
I look at you in my hand
So simple. So innocent.
Something manipulates my hand.
You become the instrument of wonder.
