Parting
Parting
Now is the bleak night of our sad parting;
Now the dulled hours, sharpening your absence
And Memory but a poor reflecting
On the past delight of your sweet fragrance.
Time and chill age bring their own deceiving,
Each conspiring to play a long pretence.
And the shaded paths of cold reflection
Will never revive your lost affection.
