Our Little Mary
Mary told he friend Nance
It was only one dance
and the band was playing her song
Our little Mary
Her life was so merry
Made friends whose giggles and jokes
Made all those around young
With the songs they all sung
Her teachers, brothers and folks
Poor little Mary
She thought she was wary
She only slipped up one time
Had one kid with AIDS
While still in her braids
Never saw it as a real crime
Now poor little Mary
Left town as a fairy
Said goodbye with tears in her eyes
Had so much to give
But no time to live
Won’t be long before her baby dies
But poor little Mary
Said kids should not hurry
Stay pure as long as it takes
To live life as a kid
She sure wished that she did
The chances are not worth the stakes
Mary told her friend Nance
To wait for her dance
And make it last a very long time
Poor little Mary
Whose life was so hairy
Couldn’t make it all the way down the line
