I want to merge with this old Yew, To travel through its rings of time. Back when it's sprout had just begun Near Blarney's river so sublime. Where ivy climbs the castle walls, A quaint sized foot bridge leads to where, The old strong Yew still charms today As autumn chills with crisp clean air. I felt compelled to climb it's limbs To sit embraced by its sweet love. To its spirit, in whispered voice, I then professed the same thereof. How strong that memory still keeps As other trees I've come to know Bless me with their cool umbrella, I see that Yew in vigil glow! © Connie Marcum Wong

Hi Connie, A song from the emerald Isle, the Celtic grace, Ireland. Such a wonderful write Connie. You manage to write these songs so simply and yet, when one reads, they come forth so sublime. You know how to touch the heart with magical wonder. I was captivated from beginning to end with this little gem. I do so love trees. I love the content of this poem. have a wonderful weekend. Hugs....Mike. XX

One of your most beautiful and best poems, Connie...in my humble opinion; a fond memory from your Ireland trip no doubt. You have managed to catch the moment perfectly with your well chosen words - A real joy to read! My very warmest regards, Connie - Cheers! :) john P.s The Yew tree is the only living thing on this planet that, theoretically, could live for an almost infinite age...all down to its self-replenishing, regenerative properties apparently. Life is so marvelous is it not! :)

Sitting in the arms of that ancient yew was a highlight of our visit to Blarney Castle. My aunt took my picture in the tree. I am happy you feel this is one of my best. I always question my work, so it is nice when people leave comments to let me know their favorites. Thank you very much John. It is always a pleasure hearing from you. Have a great day! : )

What is old so intrigues me. What 'life' has been previously witnessed that their remains stand to individual interpretation to all who view now, I find fascinating. The vibrant imagery is gorgeous, feels very personal. Beautiful writing Connie, you are pure joy to read xo

I can relate to this lovely poem, Connie. Like you I'm attracted by old places, objects and trees, perhaps because I strive to elicit from them the experiences which they have acquired before me. ~ Regards // paul

I have always loved to watch archery but never have I shot an arrow. My son has. Your bows sound beautiful Robert. Thank you so much for your lovely comment and the Fave. I so appreciate them both. Hugs, Connie : )

connie, thanks for the comments, and I fixed that one poem you mentioned though I doubt anyone was reading it except you! I am glad you like it. Trying to finally catch up unless Joe suddenly awakes from the nap I found him taking when I got home from work. Let me read this NEW poem now. (oh, and about Boss Baby. My daughter did not find it all that great,so I just didn't see it)

Well it was crudely comical maybe that is why. A lot of the jokes go right over the kids heads unless they are a lot older. We laughed a lot. Glad you fixed the poem. When someone is looking under tranquility they will see your poem. There are lots of people who don't write yet want to read things that inspire them. Sorry Joe woke up. : )

That is because I was there, and I climbed that tree to rest in it's limbs while my aunt took a picture of me and my favorite tree! I appreciate your great comment Dean. Thank you so much! : )

Beautiful. I love yew trees; they are special and can get very old. I remember a grove of yews near to where I grew up - they are great for climbing.
