One Day

The wind playfully blows the snow into deep drifts from which poke the tips of bushes and small trees. The weak sun causes the snow crystals to glitter as if alive they cast colour over the pristine white. Not yet done the wind roars through the forest leaving snow flurry's in its wake that softly float. Obscuring the view of the top of the steep glacier that dominates all that can be seen sprawled below. A deep silence prevails as the wind moves away a hush that seems to shout out to be heard. Listen with all your being, hark at the rustles and joyous notes of birds singing with pure voices. No human sounds ring out, no footprints in the snow untouched virgin land that is cut off from mankind. Here all live as nature intended, a blissful paradise sometimes briefly glimpsed through a telescope. Mainly protected from view by mist and ghostly fog peace reigns and tranquillity flows over the valley. All watched over and tended too by the high priest druid he alone knows the secret trail and guards the knowledge. A place like this exists in all our hearts if we let it in a hidden place where we go for solace from daily trials. One day we will understand ( like the druid) and be at ease in a world that flourishes at our touch. One day friends, One day.

I don't know that I have said this before, but I have certainly thought it several times. I love your writing. This is but one example that is so good. Additionally, thanks for inspiring me to attempt to write an epic. I had never tried to do so. Now, I've written one and a half. The first one I started was way too long, but I liked it and didn't want to slice it up. So, I put on my thinking cap and wrote a shorter one, the one that I entered in your contest. I am so happy that it placed. (I'm also happy that I have another long, but enjoyable epic to finish....one day.) Big Smiles and a huge thank you. Hugs, Dane Ann
