Once Upon a Beach
There where the grain of sand hits the eye
Shuts it tight before the sun goes down
There by the ocean in its vastness deep
Before the man collapses in the pain of it
He must wait till morning comes again
With waves to take him with the tide
Out far enough to hide from sharp objections
Objects of no interest or too small to understand
Where devices and those intended intentions end
It could have been a much worse offense
A splinter is as difficult to deal with though
Lumber in the eye is just as hard to reconcile
Once in the iris it might as well be a boulder
One can just as easily lose their sight at sea
Which closes in around them while they sleep
Rolling on a raft to dream of grains of sand
Of trees and beaches large and grand
