Now Green the Grass
Now green the grass and trim the lawn
The birds are singing dawn to dawn
The trees are budding – as they will
Now spring is here the woods to fill
The stones are back upon the wall
From which they fell away last fall
A pot of pansies on the step
Will greet the sun with hands outstretched –
My love is dancing on the day
She beckons me to fields away
And I shall join her ‘ere too long
And dance with her upon the lawn
Where grasses grow and flowers bloom
We’ll dance away the afternoon
As songbirds sing from dawn to dawn
– Now green the grass and trim the lawn
