No Regrets

She says she has no life regrets I envy Miss Cricket yet I wonder how she's lived this long without one? I wonder was it worth it all? To go through life without learning anything at all- to end where you start? She thinks so maybe she forgets unkind words broken hearts the things we all leave behind wish we could take back No one needs to live in regret all the time yet somehow- I think we need to regret certain things in life Such as the arrogance of youth rude, thoughtless envious things we have said, not knowing impact they would have Regret can be the best teacher painful, but lessons we will never forget, amid pain we cause others Sometimes our regret pushes us- self-centered self-seeking hedonistic and hurtful- back toward kindness (NOTE: Although I listed this as a Free Verse, it is actually in Shadorma form...)

So profound, especially like the ending verses, how regret leads us back to kindness, they say sorrow makes you wise-

"Regret can be the best teacher painful, but lessons we will never forget, amid pain we cause others" - I always think of the children who hurt someone's heart today, and I wonder if they have trouble sleeping because when I do it, I always have trouble sleeping. One time I could hardly wait to apologize the next day, and the child I was apologizing to did not think I owed her one. A heart-felt poem that called to me and made me wonder about the hearts of others, my friend.

Thank you! ;) I know I have trouble sleeping when I do that, too... and like you, sometimes they don't even think they need an apology for what has been eating me up inside! I realize I'm more sensitive about this kind of thing than most, but I like to think that others are also bothered to some degree by the cruelty they inflict. I think that this "discomfort" is the best motivator for growth and change!
