No Poem Is Lovely As A Tree I think that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree.* Each season's trees, a rare delight. A stalwart friend both day and night. Our home is built from strongest oak. Our hearth billows with small branch smoke, Warmth in winter by fire light. A stalwart friend both day and night. A Cherry waved with branch to me While dancing in the breeze so free. As blossoms in the spring took flight. A stalwart friend both day and night. The Banyon in the summer sun That sheltered safe the sacred one, It's limbs of shade a welcome sight. A stalwart friend both day and night. The maple I have saved for last, It's autumn hues where my eyes cast Reveals breathtaking beauty bright. Of stalwart friend both day and night. 2-7-20 *I think that I shall never see/A poem lovely as a tree - Joyce Kilmer My thanks to the following site for the picture: https://kinnucan.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/home-page-trees-new.png

Hi Connie, I do so love trees, they sing in my imagination, their branches ever reaching up to praise the most high. Each tree has its own beauty. Your beautiful poem does bring trees to the fore of my mind. You have crafted another poetic gem, Connie. It has been such a pleasure to read this excellent piece. Have a wonderful evening. Hugs....Mike. XX. Stay safe, Connie.

Wonderful poem, Connie. I loved Joyce Kilmer's tree poem when we were "forced" to read it in grade school, and really enjoyed this one.

Connie, this is a lovely, image-rich companion piece to Kilmer's poem. Your reverence for trees comes through, just as Kilmer's does. I relished every line. Thank you for posting it. Hugs, Paul

There is nothing more magnificent or spectacular in nature than deciduous woodland come the Autumn time...the beauty just makes one stand and stare at times. The secret inner magic and hidden-away-inside mystery slowly revealed is both tragic and melancholy...but also very lovely too in its own strange fashion. Thank goodness for trees -- they are the very lungs of wonderful Mother Earth!! Enjoyed your heartening little poem, Connie. Your friend. :) john

Lovely piece, Connie, although it reminded me of Ogden Nash, 'I think that I shall never see a billboard lovely as a tree, for indeed unless the billboards fall, I'll never see a tree at all'. You both paid homage to a lovely piece. Viv x

With all the wildfires in the USA, Australia, and especially Brazil, people who love trees should be busy planting them, so I hope your poem inspires them! Aloha! Rico

You and I are lucky to live in places where at least most trees keep their leaves in winter. I love the way you describe each tree and the special way it touches your life. A lovely fave for me! Hugs, Carolyn
