No Perfect System
Who will tell my story when I am long gone,
of how I was a family man, husband, father and son,
and after many years of writing poems and more,
have I left enough or will the future choose to ignore,
my thoughts on the dangers and follies of mankind,
who use their anger rather more than their mind?
I'm not a noted man as I sit here and write,
though many have commented that perhaps I might,
be on the right track as I put forward my views,
but still almost daily there comes sombre news,
as violence in one form or another once more deprives,
so many families of those they need in their lives...
There is no perfect system and none will ever be found,
but it's better to plant seeds than bury men in the ground,
for who provides for their kin folk after they die,
it only spreads poverty amongst those who must cry,
so let's ask once again is there no better way to spend,
billions of dollars than to bring hunger and pain to an end...
