No Hidden Rainbow

Lies have been sidestepped to satisfy hope,
a dolorous lesson of life.
When we allow our feelings free rein,
we open ourselves to all possibilities.
I hear my heart pounding,
struggling under the weight of my despair,
and I am moved to tears.
The truth is the love I held so dear
was only a dream, and I have awakened.
Life is a never-ending saga
of love found, shared, and lost.
There is no hidden rainbow behind such sad tears
to lessen the deluge these droplets release.
Pain wraps itself around mistakes in life,
and realizing this, I subdue my anguish and fear.
One dream, one heart, one love, one soul,
concepts that once floated within my conscious mind
now flounder upon the jagged edges of my broken heart.
And an outpouring of emotions morphs into tears
as I grieve a love lost to time.
