My Unrequited Love

You grew on me You grew in me I held you inside but I now realize You would never have been with me I saw you in the flowers That grew in the box I pulled them up by the roots And removed you from the plot This is where your part In my story ends I'll say goodbye To what I thought could've been I'll watch your petals whither The nectar run dry I'll starve the butterflies And tell them goodbye I'll bury them in the garden Along with my hopes I'll turn my love for you Into a rich compost Let it break down & nourish everything within me You've turned into a lesson A lot of times when you're dealing with love It just ain't worth all the stressin'

Who are you trying to convince with that last line Alex? If love were not worth it we would have no good poetry like this one. Like it a lot.
