My Pirate Women

Pirate women permeate my spaces. They are fierce and fabulous. You dare not lie to them. They will cut you to shreds, with their swords. Cut you to ribbons. I do not crouch in fear. I created them. They are ruthless, savage, out for blood. Thirsty for it. I walk their planks proudly. Eager for the drowning that awaits.

I like this poem very much. The images cohere to bring sense along clearly in a satisfying rhythm. May I suggest that you consider dropping the last line? Read the poem without it and see what happens to the rhythm.

Bill, I do think your idea is grand. I am pondering it. Whether or not I like it better I do not yet know. I will need a day or so to think on it, a bit slower on the uptake now. Thank you for the stop by and the suggestion.

hahahaha I truly do not think walking the plank would be that sad; Tiger Lily never even landed in the water right?

Hi. I like your poem. What inspired it? My mind drifts while I read to children playing pirates and how into role play children get.

I have painted innumerable canvases of fierce-looking pirate women holding guns, knives, and swords. I raised assertive women and I am one, but I have no weapons. To me my pirate women - which surround me - represent women being assertive and retaining their self-power. In my subconscious mind the Pippi Longstocking books of my youth are probably to be credited as I was fascinated by a girl pirate who did not have rules.
