The "married to the love of my life" is true, the end is fiction. I wrote this for a contest and then noticed it couldn't be a new poem. *sigh*

Stunning sunset feeds my soul, Begins to collapse as night sneaks in. A shiver dances down my spine As your warm arms shield from night's chill kiss. Your laugh rejuvenates my frame Like the longest, deepest, warm massage Your wit a challenge to elate The Sunday crossword I want every night. I am a schoolgirl once again Who doodles your name with heart dot i's Richest chocolate cake, a taste? But you're trapped by baker's glass for now. I always thought a fire burns hot Then slowly dies: warm, cool, then cold. But forty years and still this moth Can't fight the attraction of your sensual flame. If love could heal a broken heart Your pillow would still have warmth and light. But instead it catches all my tears As I await our reunion, my husband, my life. 2/4/2017 140 words

Cindi, so many things, so well said! And I am so glad your husband is with you. Touching upon the death of a spouse - what a huge thing - and if I have a real fear, it's losing my wife.

You might be married of 32 years. And comforted warmly from all of your fears. But some of us were buried and drowned in our tears. And cry for relief as the end slowly nears.

I was enjoying two people being truly in love, I was warm and content, thriving on joyous imagery, then I read the end and my heart sank. Never know on Soup what is fiction vs. fact, but I know if you shared a love such as this, that even separated you had what many never, ever do and were blessed. The poem is warm, indeed, and a delight to read as GOOD poetry with fulfilling content. God bless you! Love ... CayCay

I like to write the unexpected, but my husband and true love of 32 years and almost 40 if you count dating is alive and well! Thank you!
