Mute

Mute She bit her tongue until it bled Leaving countless things left unsaid Her thoughts she kept well contained In her mind, they long remained Her words always got stuck in her throat Her feelings, she could not emote She would always choke them down Until on them, she began to drown They weighed heavy upon her chest The air in her lungs felt compressed Ever time she tried to speak Her chords trembled and grew weak She was tired of being mute Her voice, she no longer wanted to dilute She wanted her own words to pass her lips No more reading someone else's scripts Though her voice quivered and began to crack She spoke her truth, there was no turning back -C.A. Christine, it's good to read your poetry again... this one gives encouragement to all of us who 'leave countless things unsaid'. I especially liked the lines: "She wanted her own words to pass her lips / No more reading someone else's scripts." Poetry is a good vehicle for enunciating what's deep inside us - I encourage you to keep writing and sharing! ~ John

John, thank you for taking the time to read my poem. So glad you liked it. I have been writing but just haven't taken the time to post any of them. I will post more in the near future. Thanks again for your encouragement. :) - Christine
