Middletown

Soft hills kneeling to worship the mountains Bells tolling the hour Log cabins hidden, layered with asphalt tile, Cows on every acre A church on every corner. Ancient farms hold secrets: history buried in earth. Middletown.

Youknow what;s really weird? The lead story on foxnews.com is about a farmer I knew in Middletown. Middletown on the front page!

Hi Mary...enjoyed this poem, and my curiosity got the better of me, so I looked it up. I notice that the town also had a share in the civil war, looking after the wounded from both sides. #7 // paul

We lived on acreage that had been part of the Battle of South Mountain. The confederates demanded a ransom one of their trips through. Because it is a town that runs along Alt Rte 40, it was a main thoroughfare for anyone passing through. It was so beautiful there. I wish I could do it justice, Thank you, Paul

A beautiful description of your town. I can see why it broke your heart to leave it. Loved your description of the hills kneeling to worship the mountains. A 7. ~~~Darlene

Thanks, Judy. It's a tiny little town in Frederick, MD. Founded in 1767. I truly left my heart there when I moves.
