Messiah Season
So tell me, how are you, my friend, she said
I hesitate, reluctant to speak true
For if I tell the truth what can she do
It's easier to smile and lie instead
Than say what's going on inside my head
It's just the same old **** and nothing new
I try to concentrate my mind as you
Enthuse about the latest book you read
Above our heads the shadow of a bird
Hell bent on heaven dives into the sun
Symbolic and miraculous, absurd
I’m off on one, or three, or three in one
You look at me. I haven't heard a word
It seems Messiah season has begun
