Memories of Megan

Memories of Megan fall bittersweet against my lips as I begin to speak About this one I knew so briefly but was sent to nurse and care for deeply Standing alone wounded and needing her pain and anguish set my heart to bleeding Neglected and ignored where others thrived brought my sheer disappointment in humanity’s lies Through all that she suffered, her demeanor showed she knew this was our time before she had to go Our time to be together, to mend and heal this soul that had been broken, would once again feel A brave beautiful soul waiting for her savior… How sad my love and intentions came too late to save her But only from this life we know… For I know, that her memories of love and freedom will carry her on to where souls are free… And so is she -for a neglected but not forgotten paint mare

Very sad poem. Animals are sacred creatures always in need if our love and care. At least you gave her comfort and love even for a little while. Well written.

Thanks so much for your visit and kind words Klio. Neglect is always sad...I've tried to help when I can, I just can't ignore it...but like most things in life, you win some you lose some. Have great day :)

Gosh, this is so sad. I have to admit I did not know what a paint mare was and had to look down at comments to see. Silly me!! That was some twist at the end. Animals can feel just like us and I know that we will see animals in heaven! beautiful poem.

Hi Andrea :) Thanks so much for reading :) Working with horses has been both wonderful and sad...(sorry I forget sometimes that most people don't know horse lingo) Don't know what you're "beliefs" are but if you read the Bible, Ecclesiastes 3:19-21 proves to me animals have a soul or "spirit". Have good week Chris H.

How very sad, heartfelt and touching this is, Chris! This goes to prove how great is your love for animals, especially, horses. What a pity she found love so late! #7 Regards // paul

Always like your visits Paul :) I've seen a lot in my years with horses...sometimes you can save them, sometimes you can't, but you can still show them love :) Have good week Chris H.

A heartbreaker Chris. No animal should suffer under human hands and greed for profit and glory. Your words of love and care for the paint mare and your uplifting words of where she will be 'free' is soulful and deeply moving. Beautiful writing Chris, an absolute pleasure to read. lynnxxx have a happy weekend!

Thanks so much Lynn for your heartfelt words and for your time :) It was a sad story and I felt she deserved a fine farewell :) I think these memorials are the easiest to write...they just flow into my head :) Chris H.

Hello Chris. Your words to me are beyond expressive and emotional as I hold dear any horse and their being not to mention their soul. Your words truly touched me. How could they not. Yes, it seems as though horses are bred for money and a job and yes money and a job alone. You have reached this reader. Well done in its entirety.

Thanks so much Lisa for your visit and kind words...This is the sad part of working with horses :( I am trying to help a 33 year old Arab gelding right now whose owner let him get quite emaciated...not realizing he has no teeth left and must be fed completely different if he is to keep living. Long week ahead...thank you so much for your time...say a prayer for "Comet". :)
