Veiled behind a curtain of white flakes
Fall's scant sun fails to show its face.
And while charcoal clouds gather,
snowflakes begin to fall
down on naked trees,
as colored leaves
lie frozen
under
foot.
~
Snow
smothers
Autumn's fire,
reducing flames
to ashes of white;
loosely scattered about.
And as Winter approaches
a melancholy grey sky weeps
for Fall, as it bleeds into the soil.
