Maidens and Castles

Maidens and Castles….. 5/23/11 What seems like a lifetime ago has suddenly become a not so distant memory, time has a certain shortness to it these days. Once forever was a concept to far ahead to grasp let alone understand, now life has defined itself into days a constant ticking losing precious minutes. Beginnings the past a sense of what was to be promises of untold youth energy abundant, smiling the sky sang our praises. Naïve and without boundaries our journey commenced travels far and wide were many lost days, seeking answers not knowing the questions. Maidens and castles, dreams rich in slumber’s deep sleep once resided in loving hearts and trusting souls, broken in despair without love harmony’s exit. Pain has become the song for the day gaining strength through eyes sad and weary, callous hands wipe away tears shed for the sweetness lost yet stolen. With envy and disdain the sword of time cuts down the man now old in tooth and gray in beard, he remembers love sans wrinkles faded youth depicting dreams unrealized. Tired legs must traverse on this path as the sun is giving way to the moonless night, raven is flying with intentions dark. Love and passion, hopes and beauty once enjoyed the pleasant scene, a mesmerizing scent captivating all who breathed it in. Gone like the scattered leaves of a late fall afternoon, memories of an innocent age blow within minds worn from life’s travel. © 2011 David Jerry Mitchell
