Maiden Fey, Really

Near a grove …just ahead of me
This dreamlike figure stood,
With velvet, ribbon-tinted wands
And gown of crimson hue--
She was the very spirit of
That gentle forest view:
But was I somehow part of this?
Yes, she had been there --
That maiden fey with a bronze crown
And garlands in her hair.
The child in me on springtime eve--
Knew that woodland fairies hide
Only from those who don't believe.
