Love Lost

My heart lay broken, no more to soar on gossamer wings, The song that once proclaimed its joy, stilled and withered. And in that silence the darkness once more grows, Relentless as the sea reconquering the shore. Drowning hope, plunging the ecstasy of love into icy depths. Alone in the solitude of the dark, bereft of sensation, time slows, I drift, Loss and anguish engulf my consciousness clawing at reason. Fear rises like a bubble through the morass of my mind, Ushering in despair at the desolation of my soul my mind my existence. The darkness has waxed in power and I am lost to its cold embrace.

You may be suffering from muse insubordination. They can be testy and insufferable, even at the best of times. I will try to help you if I can, but from experience you will probably not like this. You do have an excellent opening, that could spin off into anything that takes your fancy. The closest I could come to 'that' had been my Calamity poems. They'd start off just fine, but spun out into the ridiculous.:( Keep well!!! Mikki

You are a gifted writer, Shane! I love your opening lines; they are intriguing. I already feel drawn into this piece. Love your rhyming, which are not just anchors thrown haphazardly overboard. They will have substance and continuance. I wish for you great fun with your poem! Keep well, stay happy! Mikki

Oh what's the name of that little blue fish, Shane? Looks like a character from the "Little Mermaid", maybe one that was sabbotaged by that iksome Spongebob.:) Ah, "Love Lost" is a melancholy write.:( I truly believe that writing about it is one of the remedies! A remedy for you, but now I feel sad and cranky. You truly are a powerful writer...you could do a revision of a nursery rhyme or a fairy tale? 'The Walrus and The Carpenter' recited to Alice? Which one ate the most oysters? BBest, Mikki

Hi Mikki, I have started to write a take on the the Walrus and the carpenter, but would like some advise if you have the time. I think instead of reworking i am sort of paraphrasing which was not my intent. i have the opening stanza's below The tide was low the sun was high The beach was long and very dry The moon had argued it wanted to stay No matter how hard It could not get it's way love Shane xxx

Grazie Mikki, The name of the fish is Dory and she is my favourite character from the Pixar movie Nemo. Thank you for your comments on my poem and it did help me through the pain to write about it. It is strange that you mention the walrus and the carpenter as I only read that again three days ago after I do not know how many years. Serendipity?? I will see what I can do
