Love Impossible
I made a vow, for better or worse.
Now the worse has arrived.
It’s not your fault, you did nothing wrong.
It’s impossible to love you, although I’ve tried.
You see, my heart was never yours.
Years ago, I gave it to another.
He moved on, so I forced a move of my own.
The truth, though, I hoped you’d never discover.
Some days I look in your eyes and see the hurt that I caused.
Some days I force a kiss or hug, but those actions only bring pause.
It’s impossible to love you, although I’ve tried.
It’s not your fault, I’ve been living a lie.
I know that you love me, at least you say you do.
You deserve a better love, a love meant only for you.
