Sometime our dreams, like a kite, will vanish in the storm.
Lost to the Wind A yellow kite flies gracefully on high above the trees while floating on the breeze and dancing slow across the azure sky; while in the clouds my drifting dreams appease the roving spirits deep within that tease. But in the distance trouble seems to loom as storm clouds gather to, the calm, consume, and threaten peaceful moments to exhaust. The raging summer tempest spells our doom as kite and dreams will, to the wind, be lost. August 10, 2020

There is something about flying a kite that children and adults alike love - I think you capture this feeling in your poem - it certainly is dreamy as it floats up high in a clear sky, the rain will come but you can resume your dreams tomorrow or the next day when the the weather clears - a soft endearing poem John -I loved it. Blessings and hugs, Jennifer.

A clever metaphoric poem, John....but there have been times when a kite weathered the storm....so there is still hope! ~Regards // paul

Your notice of a brewing storm allows you to reel in your kite so it will fly another day. I don't think your kites were ever lost, and your metaphor is not lost on me, John.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Jenna. My problem is I sometimes ignore the brewing storm and yes, I have lost several kites to the wind. All my best to you you. Hugs, John

LOVE the way you use the kite as a metaphor for our dreams, John. I enjoyed flying kites as a kid and I do remember seeing them stuck in trees sometimes. It's a beautiful poem and I wish you success in the contest. Hugs, Carolyn

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and comments, Carolyn. Flying kites was one of my favorite things to do as a kid. Once when I was about 5 the police showed up and made me take my kite down because it was so high it was interfering with planes landing at Love Field. Thanks for the Fave my friend! Hugs, John

In life, clouds gather 'round, which causes a storm. Sometimes dreams get tossed in the wind. It is wonderful knowing that after a storm, the sunshine appears. Even though moments are carried in the wind at times, anything is possible. If you just believe. So beautifully written and presented my dear friend. Hugs, Brandy
