Lost Innocence

The eyes they tell a story when an innocence was lost gone with opportunities to the side a life was tossed no time to be a child when you have no food to eat just dirt and grime and lots of crime stealing shoes from tiny feat her eyes they tell a story of the forgotten and forlorn no love, no care, just lives in fear in tatters and in torn I see kindness, I see love I see giving to another but do we really see outside of our little bubble needy, but they won't ask nor they cry or beg attention life so rough it's just existence not worthy of a mention

Tragic!! Although the poem sounds good to the ears because of its lyrical qualities, and rhymes, but the words are really heart wrenching, they are pointing to ugly side of humanity, to the less fortunate ones. Well penned Tim.

this is heart wrenching, Tim. It should be in the sad poem contest. So much suffering even at this magical time of year. (loved the thinking behind that final stanza)

But mention you did, as you should and as you could so poignantly with you gifted pen. I was touched by a topic that has long pulled my heart around. A wonderful poem that is as timeless as poverty. Haven't seen you here, there or yon in quite a while - it is good to do so. Poetry hugs ... CayCay

As we feast on special holiday meals and receive hi-tech, pricey gifts, we would do well not only to acknowledge the existence of those less fortunate, but try to make a difference in their lives as well. You have such a kind heart, Tim, and your touching poem is a wake up call. Have a blessed holiday season my friend. Hugs, Carolyn

I'm glad you've mentioned the plight of those so much less fortunate. Those are the ones who should be remembered in acts of kindness, so instead of gifting those who have.... Good intentions with this one, Tim.
