Lost and Found
Found the deep connection once. The one that allows a person to be open and vulnerable without the fear of being rejected or hurt. Deepest because each person felt the other one became too important to lose. But then lost the deep connection, to human tendencies that dilute its power. Starting the erosion, and denial, of new and long dormant love. First, taking the other for granted, deserved attention called elsewhere. And the more serious threat, shifting of focus and importance to oneself, when once placed easily, and seamlessly, in the direction of the other. The slippery slide of rejection and no more connection, is now greased and in place. Not enough glue remaining to repair, or hold together the will to reconcile, the Tests brought by life, or mistakes encountered, large or small. Without forgiveness, and trust, found only in the deepest connection, mistakes build momentum, tripping and then causing a fall. Next step, and obvious decision, throw in the towel, why risk it all?
