Look the Other Way

There is a family down the street. Minimum wage, trying to make ends meet. Their choice is eat or heat. It's not your concern. Look the other way. Single mother in the food bank queue Worried about rent now overdue. Baby child, clothes old that once were new. It's not your concern. Look the other way. One day your boss says the company will fold. You find you are left out in the cold. No-one wants you, cus you are too old. It's not my concern I'll look the other way.

Unfortunately, a true picture of today's disconnected world. Take me back to the days when, if your barn burned down, the entire community came together to build you a new barn. Great write, Ken.

Touching and accurate, the Golden Rule should be applied by all of us more often yet we get caught up in our own web of self absorption. Great poem
